New Book Release: A Novel Starring an Athlete

The Open Water Swimmer Book Cover

The Open Water Swimmer by Sabrina Devonshire

My romantic suspense, The Open Water Swimmer, was released by Extasy Books last weekend. Since there aren’t a lot of books out there starring athletic characters, I decided to write one myself! The male protagonist, Jeff Dickson, is an elite open water competitor, so if you’re craving a read starring a character with that competitive drive you have yourself, you might get a kick out of this. I wrote the book under the name of Sabrina Devonshire – my novel-writing pen name.

Here’s a link to Sabrina’s author web site www.sabrinadevonshire.com if you’d like to read the synopsis and an excerpt. Happy Reading!

actually there are quite a few books about swimmers/surfers as swimmers. most are non-fiction however.
    Dana? As in Torres? ha!

This one was great fun to write. And a fun read that takes you to oceans all over the world! Dana just popped into my head. I wasn’t thinking of Dara Torres. This character is 20-something. And Dara is a sprinter – I don’t think 10k open water races are on her itinerary. But you never know!

I bet she could pop out a 10k in about an hour and a half or less! 🙂

That’s pretty unlikely, Cheryl. Sprint training doesn’t adequately prepare a swimmer for long distances, plus swimming in open water’s a whole new ball game compared to the pool (as you well know). Even the fastest women in the world barely break 2 hours. You can check online to see the Olympic results for the 10K.

I just threw that time out there…wasn’t being “serious”!
